Peppermint
A perennial herb up to 1 metre high with underground runners by which it is easily propagated.
Analgesic, anti-galactagogue, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, astringent, antiviral, emmenagogue, cholagogue, expectorant, cephalic, febrifuge, hepatic, stimulant, stomachic, sudorific, vasoconstrictor.
Digestive System: Colic, cramp, diarrhoea, flatulence, halitosis, indigestion, nausea, parasites, vomiting.
Genito-Urinary System: Engorged breasts.
Immune System: Colds, flu, fevers.
Muscular System: Headaches, migraine, muscular pain.
Nervous System: Fainting, neuralgia, mental fatigue, nervous stress, shock, vertigo.
Respiratory System: Bronchitis, halitosis, sinusitis, coughs.
Skin: Acne, dermatitis, scabies, toothache, insect repellent. Other: Vermin and (sometimes cat) repellent.
Peppermint blends well with Lavender, Benzoin, Rosemary, Marjoram, Lemon and Eucalyptus.
Strongly piercing, refreshing, sharp, menthol fragrance.
Throughout pregnancy, possible sensitization, high dilutions (skin initant). Use in moderation.
